Week 4 Weight In

Today I weight 283 Lbs. Total lost so far 7 Lbs.

This will be a quick update as there isn't alot going on.

I went back to using Calorific which is part of the Noom weight loss app. Its not a very accurate way of counting calories but it helps me "see" what I am eating. This weekend I also started looking at more exercise routines from nerdfitnes.com nothing new over there but a great community and videos. I am also ditching the blogger blog for a wordpress blog. So keep an eye out for that.

Goals this next week, Portion control. I still eat too much food. And I find myself snacking after dinner and between meals. I just feel hungry sometimes.

So today was my weekly weigh in. 284. So still not losing. So here is whats going on. My diet is still all wack. Its not that I am eating junky foods, I have had ONE Mountain Dew since I said no soda. But, I am having a portion control issue. I will eat a meal, then most times will either grab seconds, or will start snacking on something after the kids go to bed. And no matter what I always feel bloated, but hungry. Someone suggested that I go on a juice cleanse. They way it was described to me is that for a week you juice fruit for all meals and this will detox your body and force out a ton of crap (literally) out of your gut. Now to me this sounds dangerous, and searching for facts really hasn't turned up anything that looks "scientific." What are your thoughts?


And speaking of diet. I have also been struggling with a diet plan. I understand the paleo diet, no carbs. But what gets me is we have a hard time cutting carbs out of diet. My kids live on pasta, and they way things are its tough to make separate meals. Atkins talks about good vs bad carbs, and a quick google search pretty much says that anything that is 100% Whole grain wheat is better for you. Anyone know what the difference is? They seem to have the same nutritional value. 


In case you wondering why I am leaning towards Paleo is I hate counting calories, points, or measuring portions. I cant do it. I have struggled for months to keep a good food diary. Most of our dishes are made from scratch, I have no serving suggestion and no fact label. Noom makes a  great app called Calorific that uses very approximate measurements using your palm, or objects that you can compare (Example: Steak, palm size.) Anyone have any tips?


If you guys follow me on twitter (@kbrohde) or on facebook you will see my workouts. I have almost been successful at my goal of doing something everyday. Lots of 45min dog walks. This weekend  I was busy however and didn't do anything. Today I was busy all day and didn't have time for my normal walk so I figured while Lexi was at her OT appointment at the hospital that I would do stair climbs for 15 minutes or so....Big mistake. I did it for 6 minutes and my legs gave up on me... literally they crumbled at the bottom just as I was going back up....6 MINUTES!!!! Now I have a goal to work up to. So on Mondays I think I will try to climb stairs, but not in my heavy boots. Time for me to go out and buy some real shoes.

Oh shout out to Erin. This weekend she did her first marathon. She did 13.6 miles in 3h45m. keep up the good work! Maybe next year I will do it too.

Goal 1....Lets call it complete

Ok so my first goal of cutting out soda so far is successful. I will just call that one complete. I mean even before I set the goal I wasn't really that huge of a soda drinker. 

Goal Two - Move more.

Since I decided to lose weight I have been bad about getting out and moving. I considered walking the dog to the end of the block enough. So I want to go for a real walk with the dog everyday starting this week. Today after Lexi got on the bus instead of walking back home I just kept going. So this morning I went for a 2.5 mile walk and burned off 350 calories. 

Current weight 288lbs (yes it went up)

Weight Loss Day...uh...screw it

Yes I already lost track of the days. But it's ok because I wont be posting every day anyway.
So I weighed myself today. I started off bad. This weekend was full of junk food, BBQs and Mountain Dew. Oh and someone dropped off a dozen Crispy Creams. And on top of that I haven't been keeping a food diary like I should be doing. So on top of my goal to cut the crap, I also want to be at 80% food logging. I am using MyFitnessPal to do all my logging. If you're on there add me krazykarl4.
Now even with all the crap this weekend and whatnot I still managed to lose 4 lbs. I'm not going to get too excited because I know that my body will flux 5 lbs over the course of a week, but still when I was expecting a larger number it was nice to see it down.

Current Weight: 286lbs
